Memory Foam Mattress Pad

If you are considering purchasing a memory foam mattress pad please read the warning label. The urethane foam mattress pad label states that you should not let your urethane foam near any open flames or any other high temperature sources such as cigarettes, space heaters or uncovered lights as the foam will burn quickly once on fire. The urethane foam will emit harmful gases that are fatal and cause an insufficient amount of oxygen, therefore causing suffocation to anyone in the room. If exposed to direct sunlight the foam will break down and become too soft for comfort.

When urethane foam is warmed by body heat it naturally contours to your form. Infants or anyone that is incapacitated should not sleep on a memory foam mattress pad because turning over or repositioning can be harder because of the lack of resistance or opposing pressure to help them with position changes. Soft mattresses have been known to be a cause for infant death syndrome (SID). An infant should be able to raise their heads, weigh more than 15lbs or crawl before using a memory foam mattress or mattress topper.
