Scaffold towers, or simply scaffolds, are used when either making or remaking a building or structure. The primary parts are tubes (also called pipes), couplers and boards. The tubes are usually made from aluminum, although steel is still used. If steel is used it will most likely be galvanized steel to safeguard against the elements. Couplers are used to join the tubes together. Right angle couplers and swivel couplers are used to connect pipes when they will be under load, while putlog couplers are used to attach scaffold towers to buildings. If the scaffold tower is not going to be attached to a building, they will not be used. Boards are what are placed on the scaffold towers to allow workers a place to work and be safe.
