There are two main types of acne products for the treatment of acne namely prescription treatment and nonprescription acne remedies. You should know the type of acne you have before you go in search of either of them. Learning more about the relationship between acne and allergies can be a good place to start. About 75 % of the population in their twenties and thirties is affected by acne which makes it the most widespread skin ailment. The sebaceous glands, the hair follicle as well as the duct that connects the glands to the skin are affected. The face, neck, back and upper chest are the parts of the body that are affected adversely.
Nonprescription treatment is used mainly for mild acne. These are the topical acne products that are tried out before you consult a dermatologist. They first control the excess oil in the skin, kill bacteria as well as minimize the shedding of skin cells. These are some of the things that can cause mild acne. When looking for the best treatment, you should know it is based on several factors. Antibacterial soaps as well as cleansers kill the bacteria which could contribute to your acne. However, you might suffer dry skin due to these soaps. Benzoyl peroxide is also a very common treatment for mild acne. It can be a cream, cleanser or lotion used to kills bacteria.
Having tried the nonprescription treatments and not succeeded, you can visit a dermatologist. You also need to have persisted with the previous treatment but do not wait for the acne scars. Retin-A is a common prescription given for acne and could be cream, gel or a lotion. It is very effective because it goes under the skin and stops it from shedding cells. There are also oral contraceptives used for acne. Be very care when selecting acne products for treatment to avoid making the situation worse. Scars are very difficult to get rid of.

This only works if you have an aloe plant growing around your home, but fortunately you can find them in many different plant stores. Once you have an aloe plant at home, it is very easy to use it to help with your acne. All you have to do is break off one of the leaves and rub the white substance inside on your zits or acne scars. Aloe has many different compounds inside it that are good for your skin, and is usually used as a treatment for sunburn. However, aloe also has antiseptic compounds that can be used to fight the bacterium that causes acne. Additionally, the other compounds in aloe will help stop new acne scars from forming and help to fade other ones over a period of time.
