For the student just starting out in a new home, it can be hard to make ends meet and purchase everything you need in order to survive. You can’t really appreciate just how much stuff is needed to make a house a home, until you are actually in the situation of having to start from nothing and build your way up. Take just the kitchen alone; you will need cutlery, plates, saucepans and pots. You will also need all of the electrical appliances that most of us have had for years, and simply take for granted.
Moving out of the kitchen and into the bedroom, you need to think about linen and sheets, lighting and a bed, along with all the little knick knacks like an alarm clock and a bedside table. With all of this stuff to purchase, you are going to have to cut costs as much as possible. Sometimes you can get something that looks as good as the real thing, without having to fork out your weekly students income. For example, if you have a lot of windows to cover, and really like the look of wood, you can save a lot of money by purchasing faux wood window blinds. Using a little ingenuity will save you a lot in the long term, and still allow you the comfort that you deserve in your new home.
