I’ve written before about my first boss, Joseph McFee, whose insurance agency office was in the back of the adults only barber shop / disco clothing resale store in our small town. He worked for a small insurance company, but as a benefit they were able to give all employees as a sign of how important they viewed planning for unexpected tragedy truly is. As I spent most of my days delivering different paperwork back and forth for Old Man Joe, as I called him behind his somewhat hairy back, I would often get to talk to the towns folk who said that Joe had given them the best life insurance advice ever. Maybe it was that summer when I learned two of the greatest lessons in life; it’s more than ok to shave love handles, and always take care of your family by having an appropriate amount of life insurance.
