For most of us, we think of pocket watches as jewelry of the old and a type of jewelry that has been long forgotten. We see them as something that is not in or something as unfashionable. After all, wristwatches are the in thing today. Almost each and every one of us wears a wristwatch. Let’s admit it. Having to get one from your pockets is quite tiring, especially if you are one who often takes note of the time.
Did you know that wristwatches are relatively new? They have only been around for a century or two, and before that, pocket watches were used extensively, and wristwatches, in its earlier years, were viewed as feminine and unfashionable. Funny how things have changed right? However, do remember that they played a significant part in our history. Soldiers who fought in wars before the World War I utilized them, as a way to keep track of their time, and also, some have reported that in some cases, they absorbed bullets, which makes them really quite convenient.
So, for those who want to use one, you’ll probably not going to find something genuine and original nowadays. As to why, you should go for antique pocket watches. They give you a glimpse of history. They show you that even before the wristwatch was the one thing, a watch that we would keep in our pockets known as a pocket watch was something that we viewed as fashionable. Antique pocket watches are also quite fashionable especially for librarians or those who do office work. Yes, they may seem to make you look older and more mature, however, do remember the old saying that “with age comes experience”, and such, if you look slightly older, then you will be viewed as someone with more experience.
