It’s never a good idea to simply diagnose yourself even for something as simple as hemroids. Even with hemroids, you need to get a doctor’s exam. If you’re under 50, you’ll most likely get a simple rubber glove exam. Unfortunately, if you’re over 50 you’ll be getting the Full Monty. This will be either a sigmoidoscopy or a colonoscopy. During the sigmoidoscopy, the doctor is just looking at the last 2 feet of your colon, but during the colonoscopy your entire colon is viewed. This may seem excessive for diagnosing a hemroid, but this is to make sure that you don’t have anything more serious that may have similar symptoms to hemroids. It’s in your best interest to not cut corners when it comes to maintaining your health, so be sure to book that doctor’s appointment.
