There are various companies that make aftermarket golf cart battery chargers. You do not need to buy an OEM charger, if you do not want to spend the extra money. The easiest way to find a golf car charger is by providing the vendor with the serial number along with the model number for your golf cart machine. You can usually find the serial number in the owners manual, or you can look right on the chassis of your golf cart. This number is usually stand on a small plate which had the entire serial number information, along with the date of manufacture for your particular golf cart. If for some reason the serial number plate is not there, you can also call the dealer in which you bought the original golf cart from.

Depending on your specific golf cart model, your machine will typically use either a 48 or 36 volt direct current (DC) charging system. Typical golf cart batteries will usually lasts approximately 1000 full charging cycles. Depending on what part of the country you live in, this can be as long as 4 to 5 years or a short 2 to 3 years. If you live in the southern states such as Florida, you should expect that your batteries will not last as long.

Part of this reason for this shortened battery life is because batteries do not last as long when they are subject to high heat conditions. Avoid storing your golf cart in your garage as well, if you do not want to shorten your battery life. If you are managing golf course and you are responsible for an entire fleet of golf carts, you may want to make sure that the storage area is adequately cooled. Keeping your golf carts and a cool location is extremely important, if you want the batteries in your golf cart to last as long as possible.
