Deep controlled breathing is great because it can calm your senses. This works wonders on bringing down your high stress and anxiety levels. You see, whenever you are frightened or scared, your heart starts to race and you start taking short and shallow breaths. In effect, your brain and body will not get enough supply of oxygen and this causes you to feel woozy, nauseous, disoriented, numb and out of control.
Whenever you feel that a panic episode is underway, find a nice spot where you can pull your car over and then start taking deep and controlled breathes. Doing so will help you relax and stay calm and alleviate the physical signs and symptoms of anxiety and panic attacks.
Focus all of your attention on your breathing pattern and make sure that you breathe from your nose and exhale with your mouth. Concentrate as you take slow deep breathes. Inhale and try counting from one to five and then slowly exhale. Next, hold your breath for ten counts, then fifteen and so on.
