There are two methods of hair implants being employed today in order to help people treat their hair loss and the potential loss of self-esteem. The first method involves removing a section of scalp from the patient”s head. The resulting incision is then sown up and the individual hair follicles remove from the scalp portion. Then are then transplanted into the balding area.
The other method is known as direct hair implant or dhi implant. In this methog the individual hair follicles are removed from the donor area instead of an entire flap of skin. The follicles are then inserted in the same way as the first method. The two advantages to this method are less healing time and the hair can be transplanted from a head with thinning hair or from another part of the body. This gives the surgeon many more options.
