The Factors to Consider in Tree Transplantation

The Factors to Consider in Tree Transplantation

Why would somebody want to take a tree out of the ground in one area and put it back into the ground in another area? Well, there are many different reasons why somebody would want to do this. The most common reason in the modern world for the removal and replacement of the tree is for forestry purposes. You might ask why would any forest would need to  have transplant trees. The answer is that most of the trees that are transplanted in Irish forestry, and indeed in most commercial forestry enterprises throughout the world, are almost solely for the establishment of a new commercial forestry plantations. Granted, these trees are only between three and six years of age, but they have been transplanted from one site to another site for very good reasons.

Why does the forestry service transplant trees instead of growing the trees on the site of the forestry plantation? There are several different reasons for this, but the main reason is one of survival. There are many different processes that will be gone through before the trees actually arrive on site, to get the new lands ready for the arrival of these forestry plants. Normally the trees will be between three and six years of age. This will give them a decent height and a certain robustness. The forestry sites will be cleaned of most of the larger vegetation; this means all the vegetation that is likely to grow and impede the growth of the tree, or even stop the growth altogether. Once this has been done, mounds of earth and placed at a predetermined spacing on top of the newly cleared plantation. These mounds of earth are meant to keep the tree up off the ground for the first few years of its life. This further aids the aggressive growth of the tree and gives the tree an advantage over the competing vegetation. Forest access can be achieved at this stage by leaving gaps for forest roads.

Ice Fishing Shelters

If you are already a fan of the outdoors or perhaps you simply don’t want to stay inside getting fat all winter then perhaps ice fishing would be a unique sport that you might like to try. Ice fishing has a bad rap among non-fishermen as being cold and miserable, exposed to the wind all day and just not a good time. This is ALL true if you let it be. If you are not prepared then it can be a miserable way to spend a day outside but that is what we want to discuss, being prepared to have a great day on the ice.

Many don’t realize how inexpensive and easy to use a simple ice fishing shelter can be. The modern day ice fishing shelter will fold easily, is very lightweight and easy to get out onto the ice and combined with a small gas heater, can make for a very comfortable day on the ice even in the harshest of conditions.

One of the more popular brands of ice fishing shelters are Frabill Ice Fishing Shelters. Frabill is a well known name that you can trust because they simply make a superb product. If you do venture out onto the lake this winter then I would suggest that you purchase a quality Frabill Ice Fishing Shelter before you go. The one that I would recommend is the Frabill Refuge Ice shelter. It will seat 2 to 3 people and is an excellent ice shelter.

So you have no reason to be a bah humbug and sit inside all winter. Get out on the lake, get some exercise, catch some fish, enjoy the fresh air and be comfortable all at the same time. There is no reason not to.

Comparing Figerglass Inground Pool Prices with Above Ground Pool Prices

Let’s face it. Fiberglass inground pool prices are a lot higher than above ground pool prices. But take a look at what you get for that extra money. Inground pools have a much greater affect on real estate prices in terms of improving them. They can be configured and customized in terms of shape and depth compared above ground swimming pools. And in terms of maintainance and cleaning costs, cost of chemicals and the overall cost of ownership, figerglass pools definitely beat out the competition.

The only issue with the cost comparison between the much higher up front costs of inground pools vs. the higher costs of ownership of above ground pools is that it takes about 10 years for them to equal out. So ask yourself how long you plan on owning the property and that will help you decide.

Outdoor Fireplace Plans

What many people appreciate about their patio is the ability to use it many more months of the year than they first imagined.  If you live in the desert southwest of the U.S., you know this to be true.  This is where many people find that having an outdoor fireplace opens up new possibilities to patio living.  In the summer, all you an imagine is that your patio provides you with shade and some sort of cover for the elements.

Then, in the late summer and fall months, you realize that a patio fireplace can extend your patio time that much longer.  In fact, spring is also a great time to enjoy evening fires out on the patio.  Some of these fires can be contained within any number of great fireplace designs.  Some are more portable and are typically made of metal.  Yet others are more permanently set into the ground.  These outdoor firepits can be made of brick or other masonry products and can provide for quite a stunning outdoor addition to your patio space.

Additional ways to warm your patio living space is with another type of outdoor fireplace called a chiminea.  This is a teardrop-shaped structure, often made of clay that can provide quite a nice little bit of warmth to your sitting area.  Now, these chimineas are not meant to provide large fires and will most likely fail in high heat conditions.  You can also opt for a metal chiminea and avoid some of the fire size issues.  However, these were never meant to be the sole source of heat for your patio.

More modern versions of staying warm on your patio include things like patio heaters.  You’ve seen them, the stainless steel propane gas heaters with the hoods at your favorite outdoor bar.  These can provide heat for quite a wide area, often up to 10-15′.  So, if your patio space is this size or even double that, you can get by with one or two of these types of heaters.

However, there is nothing that can replace that crackling sound, smell and look of a real wood burning fire.  Outdoor spaces are perfect for these types of pits or built-in fireplaces.  This is definitely something to consider when you are designing your outdoor fireplace plans.  Keep in mind that a patio fireplace that is movable will give you flexibility, but less impact.  A large stone or other masonry built fireplace will give you plenty of statement power but isn’t going anywhere, anytime soon.

Run With The Garmin GPS Forerunner 305

I’ve been running most of my life, and now I’m running up to ten miles daily. I’ve been needing a personal training aid like the Garmin-Forerunner-305-GPS-Receiver-With-Heart-Rate-Monitor-1 for sometime, and this year I lucked out and got a Forerunner 305 for my birthday.

Now, I can keep track of data like distance, pace, and speed, and its training center provides software for downloading workout data to enable a more detailed analysis.

It’s also a GPS device that is highly sensitive, and it’s only a little larger than a regular sports watch, and boy is it comfortable on my wrist.

I can use it for several sports including cycling, windsurfing, and cross-country skiing, and it can even be used for geocaching, my newest hobby.

To say that I’m a happy camper using this little sleek-looking Garmin 305 wrist mounted unit is an understatement.

The Benefits of Free Standing Awnings

The most popular awning for motorhomes are the free standing or driveaway kinds. These allow you to depart from any camp site and not have to go through the hassle of taking everything down again. When you come back you just need to drive alongside the awning and throw the connecting straps over the side of the motorhome and your back to where you started. The connecting equipment is very simple to use, and most have a quick release mechanism.

If you don’t want to attach it then there are true driveaway motorhome awnings that don’t even touch the motorhome. This can be very useful in high winds because they will not damage the supports and the actual motorhome, giving you more peace of mind, and making them safer to use.

Don’t forget the chairs!

uncomfortable-camping-chairThe last time I went camping I forgot to bring the camping chairs. Getting out of the house in the morning was just to much. Pack the car, feed the kids breakfast, get all the kids stuff, get the dog, etc. I did not realize what I had done until we were unpacking the car at our campsite. I could see the chairs leaning against the wall in the garage, all ready to be thrown in the car.

Fortunately there was a picnic table at the state park campsite we stayed in. It would have really been a pain if that nice wooden monstrosity was not around. I also learned that wooden picnic tables of the kind that they have in many state parks are not that comfortable if you spend a few days with that as your only seat. I gained a new appreciation for my own camp chairs and hope I don’t ever forget to pack them again.
