When looking for a place for your beloved pet to stay while you are on vacation there are several options. If you don’t have a friend or neighbour to take your dog in then you could consider employing a pet sitter to come and stay in your home with your dog, giving him all the care that he requires. If you don’t really like the idea of a stranger in your house then private dog boarding kennels are probably your best option.
A boarding kennels is an establishment run specifically with the intent of looking after animals while their owners are away. They vary widely in size from those that can only care for a few dogs to large businesses which can hold many dogs. Most places are built on a large plot of land that contains separate dog kennels for each animal plus an area in which they can exercise.
Each kennel will contain a comfortable bed and will have a run attached to it for the dog to get a little exercise, play and socialise with its neighbours. The dogs will be fed your own food if you wish to supply it or else you can just pay for food to be provided. They will be exercised daily and many places allow for some communal exercise for dogs which get on well with others and have been neutered.
There will be someone on hand night and day to check that none of the animals has become ill and, should this happen, the kennels will have access to 24 hour veterinary care. You will need to inform the staff of any special requirements that your dog must have and if he has any health conditions of which they should be aware.
Though it is stressful leaving your pet with someone else these boarding kennels are very experienced in the care of dogs and will make a good substitute for you while you are away.

A guard dog can be one of the most effective security measures for your home or place of business. The natural alarm system that a guard dog tends to be not only alerts you and your neighbors to a questionable presence, but the dog itself serves as an effective deterrent to would-be burglars since few would be eager to go toe-to-toe with a well-trained guard dog. Guard dog training is fairly simple but must be undertaken correctly. It’s important to make sure you get your guard dog used to other animals and regular stimuli he’ll encounter on and around the premises to prevent barking at false alarms. It’s also important to establish a distinction in the dog’s mind between friends and strangers. This is done with simple acclimatization like introducing him to your friends and neighbors.

When most people hear the name Pit Bull, most people become frightened. People see this kind of dog as mean in nature. If a pit bull is seen loose on the streets, some believe that you are guaranteed to be attacked. However, just as children are trained by their parents, their owners train Pit Bulls. If they are trained to be fighting dogs then yes, they will be extremely mean dogs that will attack anyone and anytime. However if you have a pit pull puppy can you train your pit bull to be a lovely dog. I have a pit pull and I love him dearly. He is the sweetest pit bull around because I treat him with love and I am gentle with him. I am not interesting in my dog becoming an attack dog. Therefore, Pit Bulls should be given a chance. Not every single pit bull is a malicious dog. It’s all about how they are trained at home. With proper love and kindness, your pit bull can be peaceful enough to be around a baby. Again, it just depends on the individual that is caring for the dog.

Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s friend Flash didn’t have a dog bed as such. The canine who kept the Victorian poet company during her protracted illness simply had a cushion on the floor by her bed.
Flash was as devoted to his mistress as she was to him and she dedicated many of her poems to him.
When Elizabeth married fellow poet Robert Browning against her father’s wishes, she pulled back the dog bed cover from Flash’s cushion, picked up her little friend and took him on honeymoon.
More recently, dog lover Gina Hetherington took all six of her pet pooches on honeymoon in 2004.
An increasing number of hotels and guest houses are now accepting dogs as guests.
Some are even allowed to share the family bedroom.

I am of the mind that preservatives in food in general are a bad thing, we and our pets are designed to eat simple items, the more complex the product tends to be (for example the sugar from a piece of fruit vs. sugar contained in a soda pop) these break down in the body and leave different items behind, trace amounts of chemicals that absorb into your dog’s blood stream or collect in the body. I think that with the whole organic and hormone free movement, we can get to a place where the food we and our pets eat is not packed full of so many fillers and garbage, and I think as that happens the incidence of dog food allergies and human food allergies will both go down in number as a result.

When children, most of us think growing up to become famous television actors or movie stars or major league baseball players or possibly even fairy princesses. Other kids imagine becoming doctors, or lawyers, or maybe even President. However for others still, especially those who love animals, imagine a path that keeps them in close contact with the creatures they so love and revere. While this takes some animal lovers into zoology or animal psychology, or even veterinary medicine, many others decide to enter the breeding and animal raising business. For me, this meant making my career out of Havanese puppy care. Even since I first fell in love with the breed, I began writing books and articles about this cute little toy standard and, I have even tried my hand at raising the little critters although it would appear I am better suited for the academic – not practical – side of the trade. Regardless, I still own two Havanese dogs and I look forward to a long and fruitful career of educating the masses about my favorite –and hopefully your favorite – breed of dog.

If you are currently in the market for a new dog or puppy and are a complete lost for what breed to go for you might want to take a minute to consider exactly what it is you are looking for. If you are going to be using you dog for sport or hunting, then likely a popular working stock dog would do – maybe a Blood Hound or a Labrador Retriever. If you are living in a condo or in a small apartment, then perhaps a toy breed such as a mini dachshund or a mini pincher is for you. However, if you are just looking for an all around swell dog than you need look no further than the familiar American Beagle. Highly intelligent and easily trainable, beagles make ideal pets and beagle puppy care is a snap. While beagles are great dogs in general, they are even better if you have small children as they endlessly caring and patient. While there are many dogs to choose from, be sure to choose wisely and carefully and, of course, don’t forget to consider the beagle.

Horse stall mats come in three styles. Mats can be a wise investment for your barn. In rocky areas, such as here in the Rocky Mountains of the United States, stones and rocks are constantly coming to the surface. A mat keeps these rocks from coming up into the horse stalls. When a horse stall has mats less bedding is required. Less bedding means that you save some money every time you bed your horse’s stall. Horse stall mats also provide pressure relief for the horse when it is inside.
The three main types of mats are pass through (with holes), flat edged, and interlocking. The interlocking mats stay put the best in the stalls. Like a jigsaw puzzle, they fit tightly. The flat edged mats are cut to fit right up against each other. Over time they will shift, but the ridges or grooves on the back help prevent this to an extent. The pass through mats are perfect for wet areas such as wash racks and wash stalls. They allow the water to flow away from the horse. It also reduces slipping and reduces the amount of dirt that splashes back up onto the horse.
Horse stall mats are a very useful addition to any horse barn.
