This post is for people asking themselves if they want to get into owning and running a vending machine route. Basically, are vending machines for you? I shall attempt to answer that question.
Actually, I shall attempt to help you answer that question, but doing so starts with asking yourself other — very hard and honest — questions.
First, can you be your own boss? The only type of folks who can ever be successful at business opportunities — a.k.a. self-employment — are those who can be in charge of themselves — can be both boss and employee. Otherwise, you are just better off not pursuing any business opportunity.
Do you have something (money) to invest? Vending machine routes are a joint partnership between you and the company offering the route, so they can be financed to a point. Still, you need to be able to comfortably invest a couple thousand dollars in most cases.
Do you want to deal with vending machines day in and day out until you are a bona fide success at it? This is an easy answer — yes or no. I just want to be sure you understand that running a vending machine route is involving, to say the least.
If you safely answered yes to all of the above, then you are “good to go”. Get to vending!
